Catamaran to Lopar and Paradise Beach — a full day of sand

A self-guided full-day trip: from Baška port by catamaran across the Kvarner Bay to Lopar on the northern tip of Rab island, then a tourist train to Paradise Beach (Črnika) — one of the most famous sandy beaches on the Adriatic.

Getting there

The service is the seasonal fast ferry line Kraljevica – Crikvenica – Senj – Baška – Lopar – Rab – Lun (route 323, “Kvarner Bridge”) operated by Jadrolinija with the catamaran Silba. The line runs from 24 June to 30 August 2026. In July and August it sails daily.

  • Baška → Lopar: departure from Baška at 10:45, arrival in Lopar at 11:15 (around 30 minutes at sea)
  • Lopar → Baška (return): from Lopar at 18:45, arrival in Baška at 19:15
  • Ticket price: €10 one-way, 10% discount on return tickets; children under 3 travel free, ages 3–12 receive a 50% discount

Tickets are sold onboard or in advance via the Jadrolinija website and app. Note: the schedule is seasonal and subject to change — always confirm current departures at jadrolinija.hr before you travel.

From Lopar port to Paradise Beach

A tourist train runs between Lopar port (the ferry pier) and Rtić (San Marino) near Paradise Beach. The ride takes about 10 minutes and the line is designed as a connection to the catamaran and ferry arrivals. Current fares and timetable are posted at the port or at the Lopar Tourist Board info point.

Alternative: it is a 25–30 minute signposted walk from Lopar port to the northern end of Paradise Beach.

What Paradise Beach offers

  • About 1.5 km of sandy Črnika beach, with the Blue Flag
  • Very shallow, sandy entry into the sea — ideal for children and non-swimmers
  • Parasols, sunbeds, showers, food outlets and toilets within the Lopar Fun-Recreational Centre
  • Beach volleyball, water slide, boat rental, SUP, kayaks, semi-submarine
  • Nearby San Marino resort — cafés, lunch, ice cream

Practical tips

  • Head to Baška port early — the pier gets busy in July and August
  • The catamaran does not carry cars; this is a passenger-only service
  • If strong bura or jugo winds are blowing, the line may be suspended — check jadrolinija.hr or the HAK maritime traffic page before you leave
  • Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, water, and cash for the tourist train and local cafés
