VisitBaška is an independent tourism portal about Baška on the island of Krk. We are not the Baška Municipal Tourist Board or any other public body. This page explains who writes what you read, where the information comes from, what role artificial intelligence plays and what to do if you spot a mistake.
Editorial independence
Being listed on the portal costs nothing. No restaurant, accommodation provider, excursion operator or organiser can buy a place in a list, a higher position in search results, a more favourable description or the removal of a competitor. We do not publish paid articles or sponsored reviews.
Some of the portal’s costs are covered by commission on bookings guests make through our partner links. That commission does not affect what we publish or the order in which it appears. We explain how we earn money in more detail on a separate partnerships page.
We have no ownership or business interests in the places we write about. If that ever changes, we will say so on that place’s page.
Where the information comes from
We collect information from several sources and check them against each other regularly:
- Our own visits and local knowledge. Baška is a small place, and we know most of what we write about first-hand.
- Information published by the businesses themselves — their own websites, social media and map profiles.
- Official announcements from the Baška Municipal Tourist Board, the Municipality of Baška, transport operators and public institutions.
- Partner platforms for accommodation and excursion availability and prices, where the information comes directly from the service provider.
Opening hours, prices and ferry timetables change during the season, sometimes overnight. Every page shows the date it was last updated. For anything crucial to you — the last ferry, kitchen closing time, a table reservation — check directly with the business or transport operator. Our information is a guide, not a guarantee.
How content is made and where artificial intelligence is used
The portal is edited with the help of automation and language models. We do not hide that, and we think you have a right to know exactly how it works.
Here, artificial intelligence does three things: it helps put together a first version of a description from collected information, translates content into other languages and flags inconsistencies between sources. What it does not do is publish. No text goes on the portal without human review, and facts that could affect your plans — opening hours, prices, location, contact details — are checked against the source before publication.
The editorial team is responsible for everything published on the portal, regardless of which tool produced the text. If something is wrong, it is our mistake, not the program’s.
Languages and translations
The portal is published in Croatian, English, German, Italian, Czech, Hungarian and Polish. The Croatian version is the original. Translations are machine-generated and reviewed by the editorial team; if meanings differ, the Croatian text prevails.
Photos and copyright
Photos on the portal come from three sources: pictures we take ourselves, material supplied by rights holders and photos sent by guests.
For every photo, we keep a record of who holds the rights and on what terms it was supplied. A guest who sends a photo confirms that they took it themselves and gives us permission to publish it; they retain authorship and can ask for it to be removed. We credit the author next to the photo when known.
If you believe we have published a photo to which you hold rights, contact us at [email protected]. We remove disputed photos as soon as we receive a report, before we discuss who is right.
Corrections
We make mistakes, and we plan for it. If you have found one — a closed business, changed opening hours, a wrong price, a misspelled name — write to [email protected].
We deal with reports in the order they arrive. We correct an obvious factual error without delay. If a correction needs to be checked with a third party, we will tell you what we found. When a correction changes the meaning of what was published, we say so on the page instead of quietly replacing the text.
Business owners can send corrections to information about their own business to the same address. Correcting information is not the same as editing a description — we are happy to correct the facts, but we keep our assessment and wording.
What we do not do
- We do not publish user reviews or star ratings.
- We do not compare businesses in a way that suggests one is worse than another.
- We do not publish content that insults people, singles them out for personal characteristics or calls for unlawful behaviour.
- We do not sell or pass visitors’ data to third parties.
